The Gulag was the Soviet Union's state system of repression that imprisoned and exiled over 28 million people. Today the Russian government airbrushes and glorifies this past. In this series we want to give voice to those who experienced Soviet authoritarianism firsthand. They have a different story for us and a message for our era.

I worked on this project as an illustrator with Coda Story. Even though the project was created a couple of years ago, it frighteningly does not lose its relevance.
